The Circles Programme
The Bach Choir: at the heart of choral music
The Bach Choir is one of the world’s leading independent choirs. In a history going back over 140 years, it has created an impressive collection of recordings, toured both nationally and internationally, commissioned new works and given world premiere performances, consistently performing at the highest level and to critical acclaim. With your support, we can continue to realise our vision to be at the heart of choral music – celebrating the great choral works, commissioning vibrant new music and taking our music to the widest possible audience through recordings and tours.
Our passion is choral music and we believe that its emotional power and beauty should be accessible to everyone.
Looking to our own
The Bach Choir employs just three professionals to manage operations: a General Manager, a Development Administrator and an Outreach Administrator, and relies heavily on the goodwill of its membership to fulfil other roles. Volunteer singing and associate members run our box office, maintain our website, edit and produce our concert programmes, arrange auditions, and perform many other essential roles without which the Choir would be unable to function. No singing members are paid for the work they do for the Choir. The Choir relies on the generosity of its members and supporters through subscriptions, ticket sales, gifts and engagement fees. All trustees and Development Board members are donors.
Get involved and keep the music alive
Approximately £150,000 is needed each year to enable us to maintain our ambitious programme. Our Circles Programme enables all our members, friends and supporters to engage fully with the remarkable work of The Bach Choir, and ensure that it continues to flourish. Any gift, large or small, is welcomed and the programme is designed to create partnerships at a variety of different levels.
The Circles Programme
Membership of the Circles Programme gives unique access to receptions and other events.
The Chorale Circle is for those who donate up to £25 per month. Regular gifts, however modest, are vitally important in allowing The Bach Choir to plan ahead with confidence.
Donors who give up to £50 per month belong to the Cantata Circle. A donation at this level could provide a year of student bursary funding, for example.
Those who give up to £100 per month are members of the Oratorio Circle. With just 20 contributors at this level, the Choir could commission a major new choral work.
Chair’s Circle, Conductor’s Circle and President’s Circle
The Circles Programme is flexible, allowing both for donations from corporate sponsors and from those who wish to make a dedicated gift. Bespoke programmes at Chair’s Circle (£5,000 pa), Conductor’s Circle (£10,000 pa) and President’s Circle (£25,000 pa) are developed in conjunction with high level donors to reflect their needs and objectives.
How to join
If you are a UK taxpayer, using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, we get an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can also claim back the difference between the basic and higher rate tax paid, thus further reducing the net cost to you of your gift. Find out more
