The Bach Choir is delighted to be able to invite prospective members to an open rehearsalon 18th March 2019.
Our open rehearsal will give you an ideal opportunity to sing with us as we rehearse works for our future concerts and will allow prospective members the chance to experience first-hand the structure of our rehearsals and the Choir itself.
We will be rehearsing for our annual performance of J S Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The Choir has a diverse repertoire which is by no means focused around Bach. The Choir regularly commissions new works, performs with composers such as John Rutter and Will Todd, and is currently working on Herbert Howells’ Missa Sabrinensis for a recording in May and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis for a performance in the Royal Festival Hall. The Choir’s annual performance of the St Matthew Passion has become a tradition for nearly 80 years, since the regular performance was introduced by Sir Adrian Boult, the then conductor in 1930.
After the rehearsal, you will be welcome to join the Choir for drinks where you can ask our members any questions you may have about their experience in the choir.
If you are keen to find out what it is like to sing with The Bach Choir and would like to try us out before you join, then please email your contact details and voice part to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will then get back to you with further details and to confirm your place.
