Concert Synopsis
A Christmas carol composed by Ruth Sellar, a First Class Honours graduate from Kings College London, has won the second year of the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition with her composition ‘The Snow Lies Thick’.
It will be performed by The Bach Choir conducted by David Hill, Music Director, at Carols at Cadogan on Wednesday 19th December.
David Hill, Musical Director of The Bach Choir says of this new carol: “Ruth’s carol is very well written; it was the stand-out choice and a very worthy winner of the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition. We look forward very much to performing it.”
This is the second Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition, which is now held each year as a memorial to Sir David Willcocks, who was musical director of The Bach Choir for 38 years from 1960-1998, and conductor laureate thereafter until his death in 2015. The cash prize is provided by the David Willcocks Music Trust. READ MORE.
