David Hill writes:
“I am delighted and privileged to welcome you to The Bach Choir’s 140th season of concerts, in which we mark our anniversary with a performance of Bach’s Mass in B minor, the work for which The Bach Choir was founded back in 1876.
What better way to begin than with another celebration – the 70th birthday of our President, John Rutter. I am honoured to hand the baton to him for the London premiere of his new work The Gift of Life: Six Canticles of Creation, in St Paul’s Cathedral on 5 November.
After no fewer than six concerts of carols and Christmas music, including Handel’s Messiah, we offer you three of the greatest choral works of all time: Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Bach’s St Matthew Passion and, of course, the Mass in B minor, before we conclude the season with the world premiere performance of the latest Bach Choir commission: Lights, Stories, Noise, Dreams, Love and Noodles by the enormously talented young composer Will Todd.
I look forward very much to welcoming you to our concerts!”
