The Bach Choir's Repertoire
|
Over the past twenty-five years The Bach Choir has performed well over 200 works, in more than 80 different
venues around the world, and with over 350 soloists, orchestras, choirs and conductors.
Despite its size - the Choir has around 220 active members - it does not restrict itself to the
'standard' choral repertoire. Acclaimed for the lightness and control of its singing, the Choir
has achieved considerable success with performances of a wide variety of choral works from the
16th century to the present day. The Choir regularly commissions new works: in August 2001 it
gave the world premiere of Sir John Tavener's Song of the Cosmos at the BBC Proms, and
since then has given three further world premieres of works by Naji Hakim, Diana Burrell and Carl Rütti.
